Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.

Fortaleza is the state capital of Ceara and is located in northeastern Brazil. With a population of over 2.4 million inhabitants, it is considered the second most important city in the region in economic terms, after Salvador in Bahia. Fortaleza has an area of 336 square kilometers. To the north of the city lies the Atlantic Ocean to the south are the cities of Pacatuba, Eusebio, Maracanau and Itaitinga to the east is the county of Aquiraz and the Atlantic Ocean. The population of the Fortaleza was 416.920 in the year 2006 with an area of 313.8 square kilometers.
