Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.

Santa Cruz is a province of Argentina and is located in the south of the country, in the Patagonia. It borders the province Chubut to the north, and Chile to the west and south. To the east is the Atlantic Ocean. Santa Cruz area is 243,943 square kilometers. It has population 196,958 and density was 0.81 per square kilometers in 2001.
