Santarem

Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.

Santarem is a city in the state of Para in Brazil. The Tapajos joins the Amazon River there, and it is a popular location for tourism. It was once home to the Tapajos Indians, a tribe of Native Americans after which the river was named, and the leaders of a large, agricultural chiefdom that flourished before the arrival of Europeans. Santarem is also the name of the original city in Portugal that gave the name Santarem to this Brazilian city. Santarem is popular place for tourism is the village of Alter do Chao, which is located by the Tapajos River, about 30 kilometers from Santarem.

Santaremis definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Central America worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Central America.
