Ciudad del Este

Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.

Ciudad del Este is the capital of Alto Parana department, in Paraguay. Founded in 1957, it was originally called Puerto Flor de Lis, then until 1989 Puerto Presidente Stroessner. It is part of a triangle known as the Triple Frontera or Triplice Fronteira in Portuguese. It is the second biggest city in the country, with a population of 375,000 including the suburbs. The city has a large Asian-born population, specifically Taiwanese, Arabs and Iranians, evident in the city's mosque and pagodas.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Ciudad del Este is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
