Ponta Grossa is a municipality in the state of Parana, Brazil. Parana is one of the states of Brazil, located in the southern part of the country, bordering Paraguay and Argentina. The territory was set apart from the province of Sao Paulo in 1853, as a punishment for the latter's support in the revolution of 1842. It is in the Southern region of Brazil. With a population of over 300 million inhabitants and with the biggest industrial park of the State, it is the 4th most populated city of Parana. The city, also known as Princesa dos Campos, is the home of a state university. The population of the city is 304, 973 and an area of 2.067,545 square kilometers.
