Ocumare del Tuy

Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.

Ocumare del Tuy is a city located in the Miranda State in northern Venezuela. Ocumare del Tuy has a population of 138,000 habitants in 2004, mainly dedicated to agriculture and livestock farming, with leafy forest and meadows. Ocumare del Tuy was the first capital of the Estado Miranda between 1904 and 1928 until it moved over to Petare and finally to Los Teques. Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was born here on January 20, 1964.

Venezuela is a country on the northern coast of South America. Most Venezuelans live in urbanized areas of the north, especially in the largest metropolis, Caracas. Other major cities include Maracaibo, Barquisimeto, Valencia, Maracay, and Ciudad Guayana. Venezuela is further subdivided into 335 municipalities and these are subdivided into over one thousand parishes.

Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Ocumare del Tuy is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Central America.
