Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Trinidad is the capital of the department of Flores in Uruguay. It has a population of 20,982 in 2004 census. Flores is a department of south-central Uruguay. Of the total population of 25,000, some 20,000 live in the capital Trinidad. The department is named after the nineteenth century's Colorado Party leader, Venancio Flores.
